Here’s your guide to a ‘spooktacular’ Halloween on Westside

Halloween is undoubtedly one of Westside’s busiest weekends, almost gaining the same footfall as nights out at Christmas and New Year.

Therefore venues in and around Birmingham’s ‘golden mile’ have planned a range of themed nights, activities and competitions to get people in the mood to celebrate the season. Here’s our pick of some of the best:

For breakfast: visit The Soloman Cutler pub on Broad Street and tuck into a wide variety of their latest breakfast muffins. Find out more at New breakfast muffins – J D Wetherspoon.

For family fun: head up to Mr Mulligans’ adventure golf courses in Broadway Plaza, where you’ll find great entertainment for all ages and abilities. To book visit Mr Mulligan | Birmingham

Want to get scared? Take a trip to Cineworld on Broad Street where you can watch the latest Halloween Kills, part of the series of Halloween films featuring Jamie Lee Curtis. To book visit Halloween Kills | Book tickets at Cineworld Cinemas

Or if you prefer your older horror films, try watching Blade from 1998 – guaranteed to give you all the Halloween thrills you’ve ever wanted. To book visit Blade (1998) (4K Restoration) | Book tickets at Cineworld Cinemas

Quench your thirst: next on your list could be the Slug & Lettuce on Brindleyplace for a two-for-one cocktail frenzy from their limited edition ‘Get mean this Halloween’ menu. To book visit October Is So Fetch at Slug & Lettuce (slugandlettuce.co.uk)

Getting hungry again? Visit the nearby Hilton Garden Inn, where the Recess restaurant is offering a Halloween-themed afternoon tea suitable for all ages, with kids eating from £8. For more details visit Recess | Hilton Explore

Partying into the night? Head to the Brasshouse pub on Broad Street on 30 October for a fun-filled Halloween party, with prizes for the best costume. Plus enjoy two-for-one cocktails all night! Find them on Instagram @brasshouse.birmingham or call 0121 633 3383.

Players Bar on Broad Street is also hosting a Halloween party inspired by the hit Netflix show Squid game on 30 October. In the lead-up to the event they are running an exciting competition where one lucky individual can win £500 worth of drinks. For more details visit Player’s Bar (playersbars.com).

A different night at the theatre: the Crescent is showing the classic 1980s movie The Lost Boys along with a tasting of five Californian wines served at appropriate moments throughout the evening by host Tony Elvin of The Wine Events Company. Tickets for the 30 October screening are £26 via Event Details – Crescent Theatre (crescent-theatre.co.uk)

Elaine Weir, business liaison manager at Westside BID, said: “There are lots of exciting things for people to do this Halloween, and it’s one of our busiest times of the year. We have our dedicated street wardens patrolling the district until 3am over the weekend, so it’s guaranteed to be a fun and safe night.”
