Villa Park in Aston has hosted two major concerts with two more in July, featuring world-renowned performers. These high-profile events are expected to draw large crowds, likely affecting local traffic and public transport services across Birmingham—particularly around the Villa Park area and city centre—on the following dates:
- Saturday 5th July – Black Sabbath (Gates open at 11:00)
- Thursday 10th July – Kendrick Lamar & SZA (Gates open at 16:00)
If you live, work, or travel through Birmingham or Aston and are not attending the concerts, please be aware of potential disruptions and consider the following travel guidance.
Travel Guidance from TFWM:
- Plan ahead – Allow extra time for your journey on event days.
- Avoid driving where possible – Use public transport to help ease traffic congestion.
- Adjust your travel times – If possible, consider leaving work earlier or later than usual. Be sure to check transport timetables in advance.
- Expect local road closures – Roads near Villa Park will have restrictions in place in the lead-up to each concert. The junction of Birchfield Road and Aston Lane, heading toward Perry Barr and the A38, may be particularly congested from 15:00–19:00 and again from 22:00 onwards. Please use alternative routes if possible.
