For the first time in over 20 years, the original lineup of legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—will reunite on stage in their hometown of Birmingham. The band is set to headline Back to the Beginning at Villa Park on the 5th July marking a momentous return to their roots.
In a touching tribute to the city where it all began, the event will also feature a special solo set by Ozzy Osbourne before he joins his bandmates for their last-ever show together. With fans travelling from across the globe, Birmingham is buzzing with excitement for what is expected to be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of music history.
As part of the festivities, Westside BID—home to the iconic Black Sabbath Bench, Bridge, and the Birmingham Walk of Stars—has given the area a fresh update in preparation for the big night. Thousands of visitors each year are drawn to this tribute to Birmingham’s rock legacy, and interest is only set to grow ahead of the upcoming gig.

One of the standout features of the Black Sabbath Bench is its interactive photo opportunity. Visitors can scan the QR code on the bench and, by following a few simple steps, trigger a nearby camera that captures their moment with the landmark—perfect for fans wanting a souvenir.
The bench and bridge have even received visits from music legends including Tony Iommi himself and global superstar Michael Bublé, underlining the global significance of this local treasure.
Westside BID’s dedicated Wardens are going above and beyond to keep the area clean, safe, and inviting for the thousands of fans set to enjoy Birmingham this summer.

Business Liaison Manager Elaine Weir said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be part of celebrating Birmingham’s rich musical heritage, Black Sabbath are true icons, and their story began right here. Refreshing the bench and ensuring the area is at its best is our way of honouring that legacy and welcoming fans from all over the world.”
With the countdown officially on, Birmingham is ready to welcome Black Sabbath home for a celebration that will echo through music history.
