Westside Business Improvement District has officially kicked off its Spring Cleaning Month with the first in a series of community litter picks — and it’s already making a visible difference across the district.
To mark the start of the initiative, members of the BID team joined forces with dedicated local volunteers to help clean up litter along Broad Street one of Birmingham’s busiest nightlife destinations.
Their efforts extended to parts of the nearby canals, helping restore the beauty of these vital and scenic pathways.

Thanks to everyone’s hard work, almost the full length of Broad Street and sections of the canals have been significantly improved — a strong start to a month of action focused on cleanliness in the community.
Business Liaison Manager, Elaine Weir said:
“We were proud of the community spirit on display. It’s great to see local businesses, residents, and volunteers working to keep Westside clean and welcoming for everyone.”
The next litter picks are scheduled for the 14th and 21st May, and Westside BID is calling on more volunteers to get involved. Whether you’re a local business, resident, or someone who cares about Birmingham’s environment, your help can make a real impact.
