B: Music recognised for outstanding community contribution at Greater Birmingham Awards 2025

On Thursday 27th February 2025, the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards took place at the ICC, shining a spotlight on outstanding businesses across greater Birmingham and celebrating those who have excelled in their respective fields.

B: Music was nominated in two categories, and were thrilled to have won the Excellence in Contribution to the Community Award.

Rachel Cranny, Head of Development and Impact at B:Music, said: “We were delighted and extremely honoured to receive this award and for our work to be recognised in this way. It makes us even more determined to grow and sustain our activities. We are especially proud to raise awareness of the important role arts charities can play in improving the lives of local young people and communities. This award wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of our funders, sponsors and donors.”

The Town Hall, Symphony Hall and B: Music deliver a comprehensive programme of talent development, education, and community engagement activities. Their initiatives provide life-changing opportunities for young people to experience and create music, along with pathways for disadvantaged youth and emerging local artists to enter the music industry.

In addition to their outstanding catalogue of charitable activities, they offer over 120 free performances and events, alongside bursaries for talent development programmes, ensuring that young people who would otherwise not have access can participate.

Moving forward they, are partnering refugee artists with primary schools throughout the city, in preparation for their annual Summer School, and they also intend to bring hundreds of community singers together for their mass choral project, Community Spirit.

Acting General Manager Nasim Akhtar said:

“B: Music is an incredible cultural asset for Birmingham and the wider region, and we are absolutely thrilled with their recent win. They showcase some of the world’s most talented performers whilst also organising a diverse range of programmes and events for the community. This is truly well-deserved recognition of their efforts”
