Help shape future via huge jobs fair at Library of Birmingham

A major jobs fair is to be held at the Library of Birmingham in the heart of Westside’s Centenary Square tomorrow.

The ‘WM Jobs’ regional public sector event is the first of its kind in the city and will run from 11am until 2pm (last entry 1.45pm) on Thursday 23 January. Admission is free.

With 15 bodies represented, the event has been organised to help people to ‘shape the region’s future’. It will also enable first-time visitors to enjoy the splendid views across Westside from the library’s fourth floor garden terrace as well as its seventh-floor ‘secret garden’.

WM Jobs says the fair will give attendees the chance to “learn about the excellent benefits of working for the public sector”, to “explore live vacancies” and to talk to staff “already making an impact in the sector”.

A spokesperson added: “Whether you are highly organised, great with numbers, love to be outside, or want to care and support people – whatever your skills and passions there’s a place for you in the public sector!”

Anyone interested should register in advance here.

The site’s current ‘Job of the week’ is for a head of housing revenues and customers services with  Stratford-on-Avon District Council, with an advertised salary for this ‘visionary leader’ role of between £71,993 and £79.448 (closing date 9 February).

The following organisations will be represented at the fair:

  • Birmingham Children’s Trust
  • Birmingham City Council
  • Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils
  • Coventry City Council
  • Herefordshire Council
  • Rugby Borough Council
  • Sandwell Council
  • SIPS Education
  • South Staffordshire District Council
  • Staffordshire County Council
  • Stratford-Upon-Avon District Council
