Workers, residents and visitors to Westside will have the opportunity to join in the UK’s national day of Remembrance on Friday 8 November.
The specil ceremony, which is being organised by Westside BID, is in tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and will take place in Central Square, at the heart of Brindleyplace.
Proceedings will commence at 10am with the playing of The Last Post, followed by a minute’s silence.
Representatives of Birmingham’s emergency services, members of the armed forces, plus representatives from SSAFA (the Armed Forces Charity) will together pay homage to the UK’s fallen military.
Everyone, including employees and visitors to Westside, are welcome to join in the Remembrance Day service or simply watch.
Last year’s event saw bugler Antonio Socci play The Last Post as part of the ceremony. You can watch our video of last year’s event here:
It also featured six veterans proudly holding their standards, with dozens of young members of Broad Street’s Military Preparation College for Training (MPCT) also in attendance.
The emergency services were represented by West Midlands Fire Service firefighters from Ladywood, who laid their helmets on the ground as an act of Remembrance.
