Paralympians to receive special Westside welcome home

A warm welcome awaits the UK’s Paralympic athletes on Westside with a special homecoming concert hosted by the stars of TV’s The Last Leg comedy show.

The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games are currently taking place in the French capital, with more than 200 members of the British team competing among around 4,400 athletes from around the world.

And, regardless of the size of Team GBs medal haul between 28 August and 8 September, a very special homecoming is guaranteed for the UK’s athletes at the Utilita Arena on 12 September.

The National Lottery’s ParalympicsGB Homecoming event will combine music, entertainment and sport in front of an audience comprised of lucky National Lottery players.

The special celebration of the ParalympicsGB team’s return from France will be hosted by comedians Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker of Channel 4’s The Last Leg. The event will be broadcast on Channel 4 on Saturday 14 September.

Also featuring during the landmark Utilita Arena event will be some of the UK’s best loved artists, including Aitch, Caity Baser, Jonas Blue and Sugababes, with further artists due to announced nearer the date.

A total of 9.000 free* tickets are available, with National Lottery players invited to enter a ballot as a thank you for powering ParalympicsGB to success since lottery sport funding began in 1997.

Those entering the ballot will have to confirm they have a National Lottery ticket to be presented on the day of the 12 September event.

Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker collectively said, “Having hosted the last event in 2021, we’re stoked to be back for The National Lottery’s ParalympicsGB Homecoming, especially off the high of Team GB’s achievements at the Games this year.

“Having chatted with many Paralympians in recent years, we know how dedicated they have been on their journey to Paris and how much difference the support of National Lottery players makes to their ability to get to the Games.”

They said the Utilita Arena event will be a “wonderful moment” to recognise the accomplishments of the athletes as they return home, as well as thank National Lottery players for the role they have played in helping them achieve their success.
