Tennis, cycling and Olympics coming to Westside

Westside is going to be THE place to watch sporting action this summer.

A giant screen will be switched on within Central Square in Brindleyplace on Friday 12 July, with a feast of live events to be showcased over the following few weeks.

And, in between the golden summer of sports events taking place, Central Square will also be screening a number of films to keep staff and visitors to Brindleyplace entertained.

The much anticipated ‘Summer Screenings’ will run for a month, from Friday 12th July until Sunday 11th August.

They will commence in great style with three days of live tennis action from Wimbledon where the world’s top tennis stars are competing for the coveted Grand Slam title.

The action will then switch to coverage of the annual prestige Tour de France cycle race.

Next up will be a selection of films displayed on the big screen, before the major sporting action resumes with live coverage of the Olympic Games from Paris, which start on 26 July and continue through until 11 August, when the screen will come down.

The full list of films is currently being finalised and will be put up on the website when complete.
