Cheers! Try something a little different at library event

Visitors will be able to sample more than a thirst for knowledge when they visit the Library of Birmingham for a special event.

Birmingham’s Unique Network is organising a wine tasting experience within the library’s Book Rotunda on Thursday 9 November.

The exclusive event, which takes place at the iconic Centenary Square venue from 7pm to 10pm, is being organised by Birmingham’s Unique Network.

The guided wine tasting experience is also being held in partnership with Sea Change Wine, which helps support ocean conservation.

The evening, which costs £30 per person, will invite guests to taste a signature Sea Change cocktail followed by three red wines and three white wines, all accompanied by appetisers paired to each wine.

There will also be an opportunity for participants to learn how Sea Change Wine is working to make ocean-friendly drinking an easy and sustainable choice, while also being able to buy a bottle or two to enjoy at home.

A spokesperson for Sea Change Wine said: “We believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting our oceans. Eight million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean every year. If our behaviours don’t change, scientists predict this amount could increase tenfold by 2025.

“When you choose Sea Change, not only are you able to enjoy great wines but you are helping fund conservation projects globally that help protect our oceans and the animals that live in them.”

The wine company has removed the plastic wrap from around the cork on its bottles. It also uses natural corks, while the paper for the labels come from certified sustainable forests and made partially from grape waste.

In addition, every bottle sold results in a donation to marine charites.

Birmingham’s Unique Network, which was launched in July 2021, is said to be growing from strength to strength each month, with more than 50 attendees and many great business relationships founded.

These businesses represent various sectors including insurance, marketing, investments, film making, well-being, recruitment, charity and IT, it added.
