Rising blues harmonica star Errol Linton is making a rare live appearance outside his native London when he features in Velvet Music Rooms’ new Friday night music slots in May.
Errol, who spent years busking before being discovered, has since gone on to become a three-time Blues Awards winner as British Best Harmonica Player of the Year.
Together with his band, he will be bringing his fantastic blend of Chicago-style blues and his Jamaican and London roots to Velvet in Broad Street on Friday 12 May – the opening gig of the new Friday live band nights at the independent venue.
It will be Errol’s first time at Velvet and his only Midlands date currently advertised.

Although the full Friday night line-up for May is still being finalised, The Delray Rockets, a three-piece rockabilly outfit, have already been confirmed for 26 May.
Fridays also sees the continuation of special discount meals and drinks packages in the form of Fiver Fridays, with selected meals costing just £5.
Plus the Bottomless Brunch, available every day, enables customers to eat and drink for two hours at just £30 per person.
Live music can also be enjoyed on two other regular nights of the week at Velvet Music Rooms. Henry’s Blueshouse gigs continue every Tuesday evening and the Birmingham Rocks! shows have cemented their place on Sunday nights.
The next Birmingham Rocks! performance is actually this Sunday (30 April), with Gloucester band Blue 2 The Bone seeing out April in style. Gigs then continue every Sunday, culminating in The Journeymen on 28 May.
Included on the Henry’s Blueshouse May line-up is another leading harmonica player, Honeyboy Hickling with his band, on Tuesday 2 May, rock band Rich Dickinson’s Driving Force, and The Nitecrawlers.
Music will also feature on Saturday 13 May with Velvet’s huge, nine-hour celebration event on the day of the Eurovision Song Contest finals from 3pm to midnight, entitled the ‘Eurovision all-dayer brunch type thingy!’.
