Visitors to Westide BID’s website are enjoying this stunning canalside picture of the Bistrot Pierre restaurant in Gas Street.
The impressive image is adorning the website’s home page throughout April, the month it is also hosting on the BID’s 2023 calendar.
Keen photographer Damien Walmsley won the BID’s 2023 calendar photo competition with the shot, as first reported here.
Damien, aged 64, a retired dentist and now a Professor of Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, won £175 in cash vouchers to spend on Westside, while his photo adorns both the front of the calendar and the month of April.
The married father-of-three from Knowle, Solihull, said: “There is something special happening in the city centre and Westside is a great place to wander around, and wonderful places to photograph.”
Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, said: “We’re all enjoying the calendar and it’s great to once again celebrate the Damien’s outstanding winning picture.”
Further examples of Damien’s work can be seen on his website www.damien.walmsley.com as well as @dammo on twitter and @dammodammo on Instagram.
The 11 other photographers chosen for inclusion in the BID calendar each win a £75 voucher. They will each be featured in a story on the BID website throughout 2023 and all winners will have their pictures included in an exhibition to be held on Westside at a later date next year.
Those featured as stories by the BID so far this year are: Chris Fletcher, from Coleshill, for January; Anthony Wallbank, of Dudley, (February); and Sandeep Tewari, of Wolverhampton, (March).
