Velvet offers 40% discount to entertainment sector workers on Sundays and Mondays

Staff from the entertainment sector on Westside who want to enjoy a good night out can now get 40% off their food and drinks at Velvet Music Rooms.

The generous discount at Birmingham’s biggest independent Irish bar on Broad Street applies every Sunday and Monday for all current bar, pub, club or restaurant workers.

Dani Hadley, one of the co-owners at Velvet, said: “If you’re working in the hospitality industry, you deserve a little break – and now you can get a huge discount off your food and drinks at Velvet Music Rooms.

“All bar, pub, club and restaurant workers need to do is to bring along a means of identification, such as a driving licence or passport, plus their most recent payslip to show where they work, and we’ll give them 40% off their bill.”

Entertainment sector workers who bring along the industry discount card can also get a free baby Guinness shot to help them get their session started.

As well as a top selection of beers and food, Velvet has 18 screens across two floors showing the latest live sports action, including an ultra HD 4K screen measuring 4×2 metres above the bar – the largest screen inside any bar in the region.

Eilis Collins, Velvet’s other co-owner, added: “There is no catch with this offer – we genuinely want to give our fellow entertainment sector colleagues a great day or night out.

“Our reward is getting our bar packed on what are sometimes our quieter days, and seeing everyone across the industry having some affordable fun.”

Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, said: “It’s great to see venues like Velvet offering 40% discounts via the industry discount bar as it helps to bring everyone closer together across the trade.

“The more benefits staff on Westside can get from each other, the more it helps everyone, as well as keeping footfall high on quiet days.”
