Two new restaurants on Westside are proving themselves to be the ‘best in Brum’ based on feedback from the people who matter – their customers.
The successful eateries both opened in Brindleyplace within the last six months, with one of them only accepting its first customers in February, but they have already been ranked top among Birmingham’s 1,567 restaurants.
Caribbean restaurant Turtle Bay opened on 30 September last year as part of a £40 million transformation of the former Royal Bank of Scotland headquarters at 10 Brindleyplace.
And Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana, situated on the site of the former Cielo restaurant in Oozells Square, opened just weeks ago on 6 February.
Despite their recent openings, both new dining venues have topped the rankings for the best restaurant in Birmingham, based on reviews on the global Tripadvisor website, which measures the excellence, or otherwise, of individual premises.
Turtle Bay, which is known for its two-for-one cocktails, bottomless brunches, and speciality Caribbean food, is currently rated the #1 restaurant in the whole of Birmingham, with the ultimate score of 5 out of 5 from 448 reviews, as of 15 March.
At the same time, Rudy’s, which specialises in Italian cuisine including its Neapolitan pizza, is ranked #3 in the entire city, having previously been in the #1 spot following its first 200 customer reviews.
Of Rudy’s current total of 220 reviews on Tripadvisor, 204 customers rated it as ‘excellent’ with a further nine describing it as ‘very good’.
Ratings for food, service and value were also given top marks, as they were for Turtle Bay too.
Recent comments on Tripadvisor described Rudy’s as having excellent service, ‘super, super, friendly’ waiters, ‘fab’ food, ‘really good pizzas’ and a ‘really lovely atmosphere.
Raphael Carton, assistant manager at Rudy’s in Brindleyplace, said: “It has gone great since we opened, with really good reviews coming in from customers. We have been fairly busy.”
