The number of people living in Birmingham city centre is boosting trade for the entertainment sector, according to Westside BID leader Mike Olley.
Mr Olley was speaking at a mini conference organised in the city by the Morning Advertiser, the UK’s top trade newspaper for the pubs sector.
In a report on the conference, Mr Olley explained that there were now thousands of people living in the Broad Street area and said: “You’ve got this whole new community who want to spend, entertain themselves and enjoy themselves.
“That’s a whole new marketplace for all of us. The whole dynamic has changed the hospitality sector and will continue to do that.”
Mr Olley also told the meeting that Westside venues had benefited from a decline in areas around Birmingham and the West Midlands. He added: “We’ve got the infrastructure, we’ve got it right and that is spreading out.”
