American rocker Ian Scott, the rhythm guitarist and co-founder of thrash metal band Anthrax, was thrilled to sit on Black Sabbath’s heavy metal bench on Broad Street.
Ian and his fellow Anthrax musicians are in Birmingham for the first gig in their 40th anniversary tour of the UK.
Posting his picture on his @scottianthrax Instagram account, Ian said: “Hello UK, we’re so happy to be here! Tour starts Tuesday here in Birmingham.”
Ian then recalled: “The first time we played here was with Metallica in 1986 – swipe to see a pic of the back of the old Odeon.”
Here’s the Odeon picture that also appeared on Ian’s Instagram site:
He added: “See you next week my friends. Get your tickets at the link in my bio.”
Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, said: “How fantastic that the Black Sabbath bench is now a hotspot not just for metal fans but also for visiting famous rockers!”
As well as Anthrax, Ian is also the guitarist and a founding member of the crossover thrash band Stormtroopers of Death, for which he is also the lyricist.
He is also the rhythm guitarist for the metal band the Damned Things, and played with experimental band Mr. Bungle for seven reunion shows in 2020.
