Westside mourns death of Queen Elizabeth II

News that Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral has prompted a message of mourning from Westside BID.

Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, said: “I know I speak on behalf of all our members when I say that we send our deepest wishes of condolence to the royal family, who are all in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.”

The Queen came to the throne in 1952. With her death, her eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country in mourning as the new King and head of state.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
