From Caffè Nero to Costa Coffee, and from Starbucks to Lavatté, Westside offers a full range of coffee venues. Westside business leader MIKE OLLEY points out the health benefits on his mini tour.
That’s me and Mark from Ethos, a florist in Brindley place. I’ve known Mark since the 1980s, we do enjoy a coffee and a chat.
Ethos is very close to Caffè Nero, so that’s our general watering hole. There are of course a host of coffee houses available in Westside, so after a refreshing brew (and as Mark has a proper job), I’ll leave him to tour our coffee shops.
From just outside of Brindleyplace, over the bridge where the Oozells Street loop meets the new mainline canal, I’m off to Costa Coffee!
Watch and listen to Mike’s vlog here:
Having done a swift tour of the other Costa and the Starbucks down the end of Broad Street, I’m off to a rather special independent.
This is Lavatté, it’s one of our few independents at the Five Ways end of Broad Street. And I’ve got to say, it’s a welcome addition to our coffee.
I’m a big fan of coffee houses whether they are chains or independents, and I see little or nothing that divides the two. I like them both but, an independent does draw a certain type of coffee aficionado to them, and good luck.
I would just like to make the point that the polyphenols found in coffee neutralise free radicals and prevent a number of other conditions such as heart disease, cancer and, indeed, type 2 diabetes.
How amazing is that? No wonder I and Mark enjoy our coffee.
