Top BBC radio presenter Kathryn Stanczyszyn invited Westside BID onto her radio show on Monday to discuss all the entertainment venues available for student in freshers’ week.
Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, explained how the Cineworld and Odeon cinemas, the Rock Up climbing centre and multiple cafes were just some of the daytime activities available.
He told BBC Radio WM listeners that the district’s top bars, nightclubs and restaurants then gave students plenty of choice to enjoy themselves in the evenings.
Kathryn told Mike how she remembered the ‘golden mile’ in and around Broad Street well from her own student days in the city.
She also spoke with Mike about customer levels on Westside and how businesses in the district were relieved that ‘vaccine passports’ had not been introduced, as they would have been a “nightmare” to handle.
