Walk on the ‘wild’ side as new Chinese restaurant and bar opens on Westside

A modern Chinese restaurant and specialist cocktail bar called Lulu Wild is opening on Westside this summer.

The new venue will boast a tempting mix of Oriental cuisine with European cocktail culture, and hopes to become one of the places to be and to be seen in Birmingham.

Lulu Wild is being launched by the team behind existing eateries Siamais and Aluna, based in the old Carluccio’s site on Brindleyplace.

There will be capacity for 160 people to eat downstairs with a neighbouring outside dining space, while another 80 guests can be hosted in the bar and lounge upstairs.

Signature dishes on the menu will include black truffle roast duck with shimej and roasted free-range chicken in satay sauce.

Nishil Nathwani, managing director of Lulu Wild, said: “The cocktails will be full-on theatrics, enough to envy Lulu’s big sister Aluna, with twists on traditional cocktails with a Chinese influence, such as the Ginger Mojito.

“We’re really quality driven and use premium products in our all creations. Our mixologists have created an extensive list of cocktails including the classics and bespoke creations – with many offering an interactive experience for the guests.”

Naomi Aly, marketing manager, added: “Lulu Wild has been a long-anticipated addition to our family, combining our signature style of visionary mixologists and artistic cuisine.

“Since our story began in 2015 with the opening of Aluna, our hospitality group has always had the ambition to grow.

“Since then, we’ve added Siamais, Aluna in Bristol and now we are excited to welcome Lulu Wild. I can just feel the excitement from our regular customers who I know are going to love Lulu!”

Mike Olley, general manager of Westside BID, said: “It’s great to see new venues opening on Westside as the district continues to recover, and we look forward to Lulu Wild becoming one of our popular success stories.”

Lulu Wild opens on 18 August at The Waters Edge, Brindleyplace, Broad Street, Birmingham, B1 2HL.
