Joyous clubbers celebrate first Saturday night after restrictions on Birmingham ‘golden mile’

The first Saturday after lockdown saw thousands of clubbers pouring onto Birmingham’s ‘golden mile’ of Broad Street to enjoy partying again.

The crowds queued up and down the street to hit their favourite nightspots, and Westside BID’s videographer Jas Sansi was there to film the fun they were having.

And while partygoers were excited and thrilled to be back, we witnessed nothing but reasonable behaviour, with sensible queuing, lots of smiles and joyous comments from everyone on how good it was to be back.

You can watch our 90-second video compilation of the first Saturday night back on Broad Street here:

Matthew Symes, general manager of Popworld and chair of the local Pubwatch, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is great, and everybody’s up for having a really good time.

“It’s great to be back on the street seeing everybody’s smiling faces. It’s just wonderful to see Broad Street back to where it was.”
