Jobs created at Brindleyplace as new PERIOS restaurant plans to open

Up to 20 new jobs are being created on Westside with the planned opening of a new Tex-Mex restaurant in Brindleyplace.

PERIOS, which will seat between 100 and 110 diners, will provide classic Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, nachos, as well as burgers and chicken.

The 3,150 sq ft restaurant is expected to open this summer on a canalside setting at The Water’s Edge that was formerly occupied by the Handmade Burger Co.

Sharath Sundar, operations manager at PERIOS, said: “PERIOS has been a great success for many years in Shirley, and we felt now was the time to expand our services and bring our taste of Latin America to Birmingham city centre for the first time.

“We felt Brindleyplace was the perfect step for our next location. Birmingham’s famous canal network is on our doorstep and our new space provides us the opportunity to serve fantastic food and drinks in a fun, laid-back atmosphere all year round.”

He added: “Brindleyplace is a real happening place and we are looking to create a real vibe with our authentic Tex-Mex experience. PERIOS will be a fusion of burgers and burritos, nachos and tacos.

“We will employ between 15 and 20 staff and provide seating for 100 to 110 customers.”

The anticipated summer opening of PERIOS in Brindleyplace is dependent on Covid-19 restrictions.

Stacey Muir, marketing and events executive at Brindleyplace, said: “PERIOS will be a fantastic addition to Brindleyplace’s varied food and drink offering and will provide an exceptional new experience for those who work and visit the estate.

“Committing to opening at Brindleyplace during these uncertain times shows a great deal of confidence in the estate as a destination where independent businesses working within the leisure sector can thrive in the future.”
