Siamais Comes To Westside
A new Thai restaurant has come to Westside.
The innovative name ‘Siamais’ has been coined with the word ‘Siam’, the old name for Thailand, and ‘Siamese’, just like Siamese twins, but with a the view of ‘one body two minds’, will be opening in Brindleyplace, where Thai Edge was previously situated.
A secret drinks menu will be available to ‘those in the know,’ with 4 different drinks each month.
Here is a sneak peek into the new restaurant:
Skulls displayed are meant to reflect famous Siamese twins from the 17th century.
Operations director Yen-Tin Mui says: “The twin brothers (Chang & Eng) were exhibited around the world as an oddity in the 17th century.
“We looked into curiosities, oddities and bizarre artefacts like the skulls/bird cages/ and glass jars in the window. The concept was based on the two personalities of the twins which is reflected in the interior.”
With a soft opening on 30th March and a press night on 5th April 2017, Siamais is definitely one of a kind.
