On Saturday 8th April 2017 from 12:00 – 16:00 an EDL protest is planned to take place in Centenary Square.

Westside Wardens and plenty of police will be in the Westside area to ensure business as usual.

Saturday 8th April 2017 1200-1600

English Defence League Demonstration – Centenary Square – Anticipated numbers up to 250

Unite Against Fascism Demonstration- Victoria Square – Anticipated numbers up to 150

 

As a response to the recent Westminster attack, the English Defence League have decided to move their planned event this Saturday from Derby to Birmingham.  Birmingham Unite Against Fascism have organised their own event in opposition in Victoria Square.

 

Timelines

o   Stage and PA to arrive in Centenary Square 0800

o   Arrive by coach and minibus and park on Oozells Street 1200 (some also expected to travel by train).

o   Muster near to Granville Street outside of Figure of Eight Broad St. 1200-1300

o   Walk directly to Centenary Square 1300

o   Speeches 1330-1500

o   Disperse to vehicles or railway stations and leave by 1600.

 

The last visits made by EDL to Birmingham have been peaceful.
