March see’s ‘Broad Street’ dominate regional media
Unless you were miles away on a desert island, you would have noticed coverage of ELO star Jeff Lynne being presented his a star on the Broad Street Walk of Stars
At a private ceremony held on 13 March at the magnificent Library of Birmingham, Lynne was presented with his star by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Mike Leddy.
Chairman of the Broad Street Walk of Stars, Jasper Carrot, was host to the evening and after a documentary celebrating the life of Lynne, Carrot led the crowd on a colourful trip down memory lane.
The Broad Street BID event attracted fans from as far as Ecuador, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Cardiff and among them was a host of prominent media personalities all anticipating a chance to meet the music legend himself.
A plethora of media interest meant the ‘Broad Street’ name appeared in over thirty news stories, across eighteen different media from 7 – 20 March.
The campaign kicked off on 7 March with an interview by Chris Evans on BBC’s The One Show (audience of 4 million), an interview on BBC Radio 2 (audience of 9.5million), and finalised with a prime-time interview on BBC Midlands Today with Walk of Stars, Chairman, Jasper Carrott, in a live broadcast from the Library of Birmingham.
It is estimated that the Jeff Lynne Walk of Stars ceremony, generated circa £3m worth of PR rateable value, knocking the Ozzy Osbourne Walk of Stars presentation of our chart.
