Event: Cineworld Honours Dunkirk Veterans
Date: Friday 21st July 2017
Time: 18:00 – onwards
‘“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea, they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.’ (Official Warner Brother’s Press Release).
This is the harsh reality that many Dunkirk veterans faced, 77 years ago, which Christopher Nolan has translated onto screen respectfully and authentically.
Cineworld Broad Street Birmingham, are currently working with the Royal British Legion & Dunkirk Veteran’s Association, to raise awareness with the Dunkirk movie, on 21st July, when the film opens nationwide.
Cineworld has transformed their 1st floor, with approximately 2000 poppies, to look like the terrain of Dunkirk, in order to honour the veterans who took part or lost their lives in the battle:
The conversion was put together by Cineworld Broad Street with the invaluable support of the local community, – Hollywood Monster, the Army and Air Force Cadets, and the Air Force and Army Reserves.
On Friday 21st July, there will be a 18:00 opening of the film with the Cadet’s Band playing in the lobby.
