CBSO Chief Executive, Stephen Maddock, has been named in the Queen’s New Years Honour List.
Stephen will be receiving an OBE for his services to music.

Since joining CBSO, Stephen has discovered talents such as the world’s greatest conductor, Andris Nelsons, and has overseen the appointment of Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, in the position of Music Director.

Though born in Lichfield, he went to school in Sussex, and studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at New College, Oxford. Before joining the CBSO, Stephen worked at BBC Radio 3 as Administrator of the BBC Proms. Currently he is a Board Director of Marketing Birmingham, a trustee of the Henry Barber Trust and a founding member of the Culture Central Board. He is also one half of the Midlands team on BBC Radio 4’s Round Britain Quiz. Stephen is married with two teenage children.
